Country Cooking

By Ted Boscia

"From Farm to Table," a new program airing on PBS affiliate WMHT in the Albany-Capital region, shows viewers how to make delicious dishes from New York state products available at local farms and markets. Each episode features a local agricultural operation before the program host, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) nutrition educator Kim Sopczyk, provides easy, step-by-step instructions for home-cooked meals.

The program, produced by Theresa Mayhew, a CCE resource educator in Columbia County, also offers tips for stretching food dollars and advice and perspectives from farmers and agricultural experts. "From Farm to Table" just concluded its second season of production, with a new round of episodes featuring such commodities as root vegetables, ribes, yogurt, squash, eggs, peppers, and cheese.
